Club Goals and Vision

Promote the versatility of the naturally Pointing Labrador Retriever through monthly club training days with members, host two American Pointing Labrador Association Hunt Tests per year in E. WA and surrounding areas.

Provide a venue for Pointing Lab owners to meet with other amateur owners to share their knowledge of handling and training their Pointing Labs to successfully hunt or compete and title in APLA or other venues. Periodically offer workshops and seminars from dog professionals to aid in reaching our members dog training goals.

Board of Directors’ positions are for two-year terms. The core positions are President, VP, Treasurer, and Secretary. The President and Secretary positions expire in even-numbered years. VP and Treasurer expire in odd-numbered years. Three member-at-large positions expire in odd-numbered years.

The CBPLC was founded by three couples who were/are members of the Northwest Pointing Labrador Club. Their vision was to expand the efforts in the NW club by promoting the pointing lab in the central and eastern regions of Washington state as well as in other surrounding states like Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. The new club would conduct one or two APLA hunt tests, giving APLA pointing lab owners greater opportunities to enter and certify their Pointing Labs in CPR, APR, or MPR series. This would not only increase testing opportunities within the state of WA but also reduce travel to surrounding states. The charter members of CBPLC were Doreen and Gary Oakes, RJ and Arlene Marquart, and Kelly and Kevin Merrick.
